Julianne Moore politely eschewed the press line at last night’s Cinema Society screening of her latest film, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, but the actress did get chatty with one reporter, the ubiquitous Jeffrey Slonim. After saying goodbye to him and breezing into the theater without so much as a sound bite to other reporters (Chic compris), Slonim revealed that he and the actress had a past. “We went to high school together,” he said. “She was my homecoming date.”

    It’s wonderful. I wish the weather had been better so I could see more. You’ve been to Berlin often?
    A few times, but it’s always in the winter for film festivals so it’s usually freezing.
