CFDA’s Celebrity Attractions

Although supermodels will dominate the fashion ad campaigns this fall, celebrities will rule at Monday’s CFDA Awards gala. In lieu of the supermodel trifecta–Eugenia Volodina, Hana Soukupova and Natalia Vodianova–that represented a respective Womenswear Designer of the Year award nominee in 2006, the award this year will be presented by a trio of starlets wearing each nominated designer: Victoria Beckham (fronting Marc Jacobs), Eva Mendes (repping Calvin Klein Collection) and Maggie Gyllenhaal (who will wear Proenza Schouler). The hilarious duo of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will hand out the Accessory Designer of the Year award. Calvin Klein will present Carolina Herrera with her Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, and Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg will receive his accolade from none other than fellow New York icon Ralph Lauren. Nadja Swarovski has asked Mandy Moore to present this year’s Swarovski awards, and, of course, Fran Leibowitz will emcee.
