Chic CFDA Countdown: Carolina Herrera

The CFDA Awards are fast approaching and today we are bringing you a sure thing. Carolina Herrera won’t be waiting on pins and needles in anticipation of the evening; the designer is a guaranteed winner. Herrera is being honored with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.

Where were you when you found out you would be receiving the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award?
I was in my office and got a phone call from Diane von Furstenberg.
What was your response? How did you celebrate?
It was very unexpected and I am very flattered.

Do you remember the first time you met Mr. Beene? Do you have any special memories of him?
I met him many years ago. I am a great admirer of his work and for me he is one of the best American designers.
What has been your favorite year in fashion? Why?
I have many years in fashion that I really love. One of them is 1981 when I showed my first collection.
Who will you be bringing with you to the CFDA Awards?
Two of my daughters and my husband.
Is there anyone that you haven’t dressed yet that you would like to see your clothes on?
I would like to dress the badly dressed women I’ve seen. To see if I can help them a little bit.
