Chic CFDA Countdown: Patrik Ervell

We can’t even keep track of what day it is, much less how many CFDA honoree/nominee profiles we’ve done thus far. You’re keeping track, right? Today: Patrik Ervell.
So, what does being nominated mean to you?
I’m flattered and excited. It’s truly an amazing recognition.
How did you find out?
Steven Kolb
called me. Naturally, I was very surprised.

Do you have a date for the big night?

I don’t think so. I’m sitting with a bunch of people from GQ, which is sponsoring the table.
You took an unusual career path. You were an editor first, then a designer.
Yes, it was a very gradual and incremental process. I’ve started small and grown in very small steps.
What was your year been like?
Pretty great. My Fall/Winter ‘08 collection was picked up by Barneys, which is pretty exciting, because they’re the first big retailer to do so.
What are some of your ultimate work goals?
To keep a point of view and be really focused.

How will you build on this momentum and recognition?
I’m married to my job, but I do go to Paris a few weeks a year to buy fabrics and be inspired.
