Daily Postcard: Junior Reporter Maggie Hemphill’s Final Sign Off!

What a difference a year makes!! Last September I convinced my parents to take me to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (“Just to look at the Tents!”). Unbelievably, I met Fern Mallis outside and gave her my magazine. Since then she has been a subscriber and my fashion fairy godmother! Who would’ve thought that a year later I would be ending my fantastic week in the IMG VIP lounge interviewing her! People twice my age would kill for that opportunity. I can’t thank Fern or The Daily enough for helping me to get there!
As I walked into the Tents today I met my fashion idol, Rachel Zoe. I couldn’t believe it! In the afternoon, I attended the Milly by Michelle Smith show, it was my favorite one of the week. The young preppy looks were a perfect fit for my style. After the show, Ms. Mallis introduced me to the designer! Then she gave me a personal tour of the backstage area and all of the VIP lounges. It was sooo cool! To end the day I got to do an interview with Ms. Mallis for the Fashion Week edition of Maggie-zine. It is the best interview yet!
Overall, I had a great week and couldn’t ask for any better! I made so many contacts and connections that will help me to improve my magazine. Thanks so much to the staff at The Daily, IMG, and especially Ms. Mallis for helping me to do what I love!!! Hope to see you in February!
