François Nars Gets Real...Again!

Beauty magnate François Nars follows up his ultimate how-to book Makeup Your Mind (featuring models Naomi Campbell, Karen Elson, Maggie Rizer and Sophie Dahl) with a new twist: he used real women (and even a few men!) as models. Last night at Cedar Lake in Chelsea, he celebrated the sequel to the 2001 bestseller with a cocktail party for Make Up Your Mind: Express Yourself. The book unites Nars' two passions, makeup and photography, in his directive to woman on how to wear makeup. Nars filled us in on why he decided to abandon professional models and go with regular folk: "I felt like they deserved to be in a book. Ultimately the people that buy the book are real women, not just movie stars." Chic asked him why he decided to include les mecs. "It was just to break up the book a little. Makeup can look great on a guy if it's done the right way."
