Meet the Girls from EmMag, Junior Fashion Reporters!

Emily Glogowski and Maggie Hemphill are teenagers, but they’ve already started their own fashion magazine, EmMag, where talk about their inspirations, what clothes and products they love, and where to shop. They sent their magazine to the SVP of IMG Fashion, Fern Mallis, who passed it along to us. After seeing the mag, we knew these gals had the potential to pursue careers in fashion, and couldn’t resist inviting them to New York to experience their first Fashion Week–and give them their first official assignment. Here’s the girls’ accounts of their time in NYC.

Their takes on their first Fashion Week:
EMILY:
OMG!!!!
My first impression of Fashion Week was WOW! It was more than I could have ever dreamed of. Every detail I consumed has been so fulfilling, there are so many great designers, beautiful people, and most of all, fabulous fashions.
When we were first invited to attend Fashion Week, I was so excited. I had a million thoughts of what it might be like to be there. I wanted to ook like I belonged. I decided to wear a black strapless and ruffled dress that I felt good in. After the added bonus of having my hair done by TRESemme′, I felt as amazing as my surroundings.
When we started our magazine I never imagined this happening to us. Being in the tents, attending the shows and being part of the crowd have been the best experiences. Everyone is so dedicated to fashion, they truly inspire me.
MAGGIE:
When I first walked into Bryant Park on Friday morning, it was breathtaking. There were cameras, crowds, chaos, and of course, style. I felt so lucky when I received my pass with my picture and name on it.
On Friday night, my Mom and I attended the Nicole Miller show. I sat in the front row right next to [IMG VP and Fashion Week organizer] Fern Mallis and that was very exciting! The show was held in the Salon, which is much smaller than the Tent. I loved how the looks flowed together in the show. Seeing the models up-close was amazing! I decided to wear a short gold dress, black leggings, and black shoes to that show.
On Saturday morning my Mom, my best friend, and I went to the Lacoste show. It was very sophisticated, with soft, pastel tones.
Our big assignment of the weekend was to review the collection of the Barbie runway show for The Daily. When we walked into the Tent it was overwhelming. There were so many people taking pictures and getting interviewed. We took notes on every look throughout the collection and it was the most amazing thing I have ever attended. To go to the Barbie show I wore a hot pink BCBG dress with black tights, a skinny black belt, and black shoes.
During the day we met and saw many famous celebrities. We met Yoanna House, Jay Alexander, and Cologne and William (Stylista). At the show, we saw Nole Marin, Robert Verdi, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and my style icon, Heidi Klum (I really couldn’t believe it!) My friend and I gave Miss Jay a copy of our own fashion magazine, EmMag. Some of the most important time I spent this weekend was with Fern Mallis, who is the inspiration for what I want to do when I am older.
During the entire weekend we were surrounded by incredible people in fabulous clothing. I don’t think that any other fashion week will be more special or more important to me in my life, but I will keep trying…
