A storm of plaid hit Milan runways for fall 2009. Tomas Maier showed a luxe plaid overcoat for his collection for Bottega Veneta while Milan Vukmirovic offered intriguing layered look in plaid for Trussardi 1911. Etro and Missoni showed more unconventional options with Kean Etro opting for an exotic looking overcoat with shapes of lighter plaid overlaid over a darker base. While the Jil Sander coat above cannot quite be considered plaid, Raf Simons‘ nonpareil fabric innovations created a plaid like effect that advanced the impressive work seen in his previous marble collection.
