Trend Tracking: Statement Silhouettes

Statement silhouettes abounded in the fall 2009 menswear collections shown in Milan. The rejection of a uniform look was depicted in the disparate shapes seen in the hourglass coats at Jil Sander and the cocoon topper at Gianfranco Ferre. Alessandro Dell’Acqua streamlined his eponymous label with an elongated grey coat with a skinny trouser to match. Miuccia Prada opted for a chicly disshelved look for several, while Ferragamo created optical illusions with an intriguing cape-like overcoat.
