Giambattista Valli left nothing to chance for the last five minutes of his show, showcasing five of the most beautiful dresses of his career, leading the audience to excitedly applaud with every step. The Italian designer had them were he wanted them. “I’m just speechless,” sighed Natalie Portman, who came to the show with stylist Kate Young. “It was incredible from start to finish.” Donna D’Cruz said that her friend’s dresses had an almost had a “feline quality”, while Valli himself used the word “metamorphosis” more than any other in speaking about his collection. “The truth is we live in new times, with a new economy, new leaders, and new rules,” he explained. “This was really all about evolution.”  As for his breathtaking final gowns? “Everyone seems to think they’re wedding gowns, but I saw them as clouds.”
